Small game hunting, big game hunting, bird hunting, etc… Let me explain what each of these types of hunting methods is.
Big game hunting
When it comes to big game hunting your hunting for animals like bison, elk, deer, bear, etc… These animals are considered big game due to there bigger size hints the name big game hunting. With the animal being a larger size the most common weapon used to hunt them is a firearm more specifically a rifle.
Small game hunting
Small game hunting consists of smaller animal like rabbits, squirrels, hares and other like-size animals. When it comes to the type of weapon used for small game it all depends on the species your hunting. Air rifles and crossbows are the two favorite weapons used, but it depends on your option some people prefer just a standard .22.
Can you guess what you shoot in when bird hunting? Yup, that’s right birds!!! Here are a few types of a bird that are commonly hunted. Quail, pheasant, grouse, etc.. When it comes to the weaponed used for bird hunting there is only one weapon, The shotgun!
Now that we have a better understanding of what kind of hunting there is out there, now its time go over how you can be prepared when hunting season comes around.
Here is six-way to be prepared for hunting season!!!
6) Set up
One of the critical factor when hunting is where you set up. You want t to have a view that you can see everything but not be seen. You should always take your time and figure out where to go because if it’s not a right spot then for the season won’t look too good.
You never want to run out or forget supplies like ammo, water, tool, etc.. It’s the worst to have made a kill, and you forget the tools you need to clean or bring it back with you. Likewise when you’re out hunting its normally for hours. When your out there in the weather for hours it is essential that you stay hydrated and on point.
Anytime you’re out alone you should have some experience on what you’re doing and how to handle an emergency situation. An important factor in hunting is a firearm. When it comes to firearm anything can happen it could backfire or misfire. If any of those happened and your hurt your self it is important to know how to handle the situation.
By law, you have to purchase your license/tags to be able to hunt. If you are caught hunting without a permit, you could be fined up to $2,000 or imprisonment. With that being said it is critical, always to get your license!
On the same line as getting your license, there is much more regulation that you have to follow or you could be fined big time. Every time before going out hunting you should refresh up on the regulations to make sure nothing has changed and that you fully understand all of them.
1) Weapons of choice
Your gun is the most critical part if something goes wrong then the whole day is over. Make sure you always clean your guns and have a back up if something would break or stop working. Nobody can express how important it is to have a clean firearm. If you don’t clean your gun, it puts a very high risk of malfunction during use.
Now that you have seen the list I put together that could help you prepared for hunting season, let me know in the comment if you have another way to prepare.
