WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump will speak to the mothers of children killed by illegal immigrants, mothers who lost their children in the service of the United States Armed Forces, and other courageous everyday American mothers during an event at the White House on Friday afternoon, The Daily Wire can first report.
The president will host a luncheon to honor Mother’s Day 2026 in the newly renovated White House Rose Garden at noon on Friday where he will give remarks to a group that includes Angel Mothers and Gold Star Mothers, a White House official shared.
During his remarks, Trump will discuss topics including the Working Families Tax Cut, Trump Accounts, his efforts to enable more Americans to access IVF, school choice, and how his administration is keeping men out of women’s sports and spaces.
White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles will be in attendance, as will Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins.
One of the president’s guests will be Anna Zarutska, the mother of Iryna Zarutska, the 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee who was brutally stabbed to death on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina in August 2025. Anna Zarutska fled Ukraine with her daughter in 2022 and journeyed to the United States to live with their family in North Carolina, where Iryna Zarutska was working full-time at a pizzeria while attending community college.

Her murderer, Decarlos Brown Jr., had more than a dozen prior arrests and was released on no-cash bail when he killed her. He faces both state and federal murder charges, though as recently as Thursday, federal examiners found him “incapable to proceed” in the federal case due to mental illness. He was found “incapable to proceed” on the state murder charge last month.
Six-time Olympic Medalist Kallie Humphries will also attend the luncheon, a White House official shared. Humphries is a Canadian and American bobsledder whose dream was to stand on the Olympic podium not only as an athlete, but as a mother. She achieved that dream during the 2026 Olympics when earned two bronze medals with her husband and son present to cheer her victory. Her son was born in 2024 through IVF, prompting Humphries to become an advocate for the process.
The president will also host Alicia Lopez, the mother of Marine Corps Corporal Hunter Lopez, one of the 13 U.S. service members killed in the ISIS-K suicide bombing at Abbey Gate outside the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul on August 26, 2021, during former President Joe Biden’s botched Afghanistan withdrawal. Corporal Lopez was 22-years-old at the time and hoped to become a sheriff in his hometown sheriff’s department, following in his family’s footsteps.
A number of Angel mothers will be present as well: Angel mother Sabine Durden-Coulter, whose son Dominic Durden was killed in 2012 by an illegal immigrant in California, Angel mom Anne Fundner, whose son Weston died after taking a counterfeit fentanyl-laced pill in 2022, and Angel mom Jaqueline Medina, whose daughter Lizbeth Medina was killed in Texas in 2023 by an illegal alien.
Other guests include Dalisia Ballinger, a Memphis mother and public safety advocate who is a member of “Make Memphis Safe Again,” and Melody Wolfe, the mother of West Virginia National Guard Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe, who was critically wounded in a terrorist attack on November 26, 2025, near the White House by Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national who entered the country in 2021.
