The fact-checking barrage comes in the wake of the coordinated strike by the United States and Israel that took out Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a move officials have framed as a decisive blow against what they describe as the regime\u2019s decades-long campaign of terror and regional destabilization.<\/p>\n
In a pair of sharply worded statements on X, CENTCOM directly contradicted claims made by Iran\u2019s ambassador at the United Nations and by Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, labeling them false and accusing Tehran of deliberately misleading the international community.<\/p>\n
During a U.N. Security Council meeting, Iran\u2019s ambassador claimed Tehran\u2019s response had been directed \u201csolely and exclusively at the bases and assets of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n
