The Atlanta Hawks are apparently making the most out of International Women\u2019s Month by teaming up with a famous strip club as part of their promotional \u201cMagic City Monday\u201d game on March 16.<\/p>\n
The NBA team put out a release that stated the \u201cMagic City Monday\u201d game will honor one of Atlanta\u2019s \u201ciconic cultural institutions\u201d with special food and a halftime performance by Atlanta great, T.I.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Hawks have worked with Magic City to bring the \u2018best of\u2019 the phenomena for fans in attendance at the award-winning State Farm Arena,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

The famous Atlanta strip club has been around since the \u201980s and is known for more than just its strippers. Magic City is famous for its lemon pepper wings, which will be featured at the \u201cMagic City Monday\u201d game in a few weeks.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom the food to the music and the exclusive merchandise, we are excited to team up with Magic City to create an authentic, True to Atlanta-inspired game experience,\u201d said<\/a> Hawks Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer Melissa Proctor.<\/p>\n
The wings are apparently so good that during the NBA bubble season in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, former Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams broke protocol to visit Magic City for the wings and was forced to miss games because of the mandatory 10-day quarantine the league required.<\/p>\n
Not all NBA players are excited for this collab during a month that\u2019s meant to celebrate women\u2019s accomplishments. San Antonio Spurs center Luke Kornet penned an article<\/a> asking Atlanta to cancel \u201cMagic City Monday\u201d theme night because he said the promotion doesn\u2019t protect or esteem women and would reflect poorly on the NBA.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe NBA should desire to protect and esteem women, many of whom work diligently every day to make this the best basketball league in the world,\u201d Kornett wrote. \u201cWe should promote an atmosphere that is protective and respectful of the daughters, wives, sisters, mothers, and partners that we know and love.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kornet insists that women in the adult entertainment industry often experience abuse and harassment. He encouraged the league to hold teams to a higher standard when it comes to in-game partnerships. The Spurs center added that many people around the league were shocked by the Hawks\u2019 decision.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe desire to provide an environment where fans of all ages can safely come and enjoy the game of basketball and where we can celebrate the history and culture of communities in good conscience,\u201d Kornet said. \u201cThe celebration of a strip club is not conduct aligned with that vision.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Hawks did not refer to Magic City as a strip club in the release, but instead focused on other aspects of the establishment.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s fitting that the visiting team for the March 16 game is the Orlando Magic. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
