Pop star Britney Spears was arrested overnight in Ventura County, California, on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to multiple media reports.<\/span><\/p>\n The 44-year-old recording artist was stopped by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 p.m. and booked shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday, per <\/span>CNN<\/span><\/a>. Authorities reportedly listed the incident as a \u201ccite and release,\u201d meaning Spears was let go without bail pending a court appearance. Additional details were not immediately available.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Spears\u2019 manager described the situation as \u201can unfortunate incident\u201d that was \u201ccompletely inexcusable.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBritney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law,\u201d Spears\u2019 manager said in a statement. \u201cHopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney\u2019s life.
