Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson recently came under fire for comments she made joking about a fan\u2019s abortion.<\/span><\/p>\n It all started when TikTok user @honeyhazelwood shared a video of the singer performing \u201cMidnight Sun\u201d at one of her recent shows. Larsson is currently touring in the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n In a text overlay of the video, the TikTok user wrote, \u201ci didn\u2019t know i was pregnant here but at least my baby got to hear midnight sun before I aborted it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Larsson responded with a joking comment, writing, \u201cI killed the performance and then you killed it after the performance purrrrrr.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Their exchange inspired a negative reaction online. Later on, the singer doubled down, saying she couldn\u2019t understand why people were so upset. \u201cSorry, that\u2019s funny\u2026 Sorry if you don\u2019t have humor,\u201d Larsson posted in a follow-up TikTok video<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhy do you feel like abortion is only OK when it\u2019s a very hard decision, when it\u2019s something that women have to struggle with going through, when it\u2019s emotionally or physically painful?\u201d she went on. \u201cWhy does that make it morally superior to someone just wanting an abortion for whatever reason? Why is it only morally OK when women have to suffer? Now riddle me that.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt doesn\u2019t have to be taboo,\u201d Larsson insisted. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t have to be this bad thing that women do\u2026 if we speak about it in a casual manner, that also makes [it easier for] the women who go through it and who are actually suffering through it,\u201d she concluded. \u201cSo let\u2019s just make more jokes. Utterly grim,\u201d another commenter <\/span>agreed<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cNo one is celebrating abortion,\u201d The Daily Wire host Isabel Brown mockingly <\/span>wrote<\/span><\/a>, repeating a popular false assertion among the pro-abortion crowd.<\/span><\/p>\n Larsson started gaining recognition in American pop culture after figure skater Alysa Liu, who won the nation\u2019s first gold medal in women\u2019s singles since 2002, skated to her song \u201cStateside\u201d at the 2026 Winter Olympics.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The singer has been outspoken about politics, revealing her anti-Israel stance and support for left-wing causes on multiple occasions.
