Actress Rachel Zegler is still whining about how her leading role in a Disney live-action adaptation was a massive flop, and predictably, is blaming all the supposed racists out there for her failure.<\/span><\/p>\n The 24-year-old actress <\/span>told<\/span><\/a> Harper\u2019s Bazaar about the backlash she received in 2021 after it was announced that she would play the lead \u201cSnow White,\u201d calling the whole ordeal \u201creally confusing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0\u201cI was told I wasn\u2019t enough of one thing for \u2018West Side Story\u2019 and too much of another for \u2018Snow White,\u2019\u201d Zegler told the outlet, referencing pushback she received for being cast as Maria in \u201cWest Side Story\u201d because her father is white.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI grew up proud of being Colombian,\u201d she went on. \u201cEating the food, wearing the dresses, drinking the coffee, doing all the things that were so intrinsic to who I was as a kid and who I am as an adult \u2014 but I do think there\u2019s an argument to be made that, in the public eye at least, when you\u2019re two things, you\u2019re simultaneously nothing. But I refuse to assimilate for anybody else\u2019s comfort.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Social media users pointed out how the main complaint with Zegler wasn\u2019t about her ethnicity, but her attitude. The actress went viral for saying she hated the source material for \u201cSnow White\u201d and also for posting divisive political opinions online.<\/span><\/p>\n Zegler made several inflammatory statements, including saying she hoped Trump supporters \u201cnever know peace.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The actress also took heat for <\/span>posting<\/span><\/a> on X in 2024, \u201cand always remember, free palestine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Beyond posting political commentary, she also mocked the source material for the movie she was starring in, calling Prince Charming a \u201cstalker\u201d and saying the new version of \u201cSnow White\u201d wouldn\u2019t resemble the original.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe have a different approach to, what I\u2019m sure a lot of people will assume is a love story,\u201d Zegler said in part. \u201c[Snow White is] not going to be saved by the prince and she\u2019s not going to be dreaming about true love,\u201d she continued. \u201cShe\u2019s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be and the leader that her late father told her that she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave and true.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Zegler told Harper\u2019s Bazaar that the consequences of her actions were \u201ca complete study in intent versus impact.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve said what I feel, and that will always be a testament to my core beliefs as a human. That\u2019s where I stand,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cYou live and you learn, and there\u2019s a caution that comes with that. There\u2019s an understanding that the temptation to speak doesn\u2019t always mean that it must be done, and that there are a lot of opportunities to make more meaningful change than a tweet.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cSnow White\u201d made just over $206 million worldwide, meaning it did not recoup its massive production budget. It has a 39% critics\u2019 score and 69% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
