Dalilah Coleman<\/a>, 7, who suffered life-altering injuries at the hands of an illegal immigrant truck driver who received his license from the Golden State, the young girl\u2019s father, Marcus Coleman, told The Daily Wire.<\/p>\nIndian illegal immigrant Partap Singh allegedly caused the multi-car pileup while driving an 18-wheeler with a California commercial driver\u2019s license in June 2024, causing significant injuries to Dalilah. The young girl, who was 5 years old at the time of the crash, suffered a traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and developmental delay.<\/p>\n
She currently cannot eat orally and is learning to walk again. She also has the \u201cmentality of an 18 to 24 month old\u201d as a result of her injuries, according to Marcus.<\/p>\n
Dalilah\u2019s father has repeatedly said that Newsom hasn\u2019t contacted the family. He also said he\u2019s lost hope and is \u201cnot holding\u201d his \u201cbreath\u201d anymore after making his own attempts to contact their office.<\/p>\n
Marcus, who happens to be a truck driver himself, recently shared his frustrations with Newsom\u2019s silence with The Daily Wire.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow do you not see Dalilah? How do you allow politics to blind you from a five-year-old girl at the time whose life is forever changed, and your only answer is it\u2019s the federal government,\u201d Marcus said.<\/p>\n
Newsom\u2019s office told The Daily Wire on February 25 that they had \u201cno record of outreach from the Coleman family,\u201d adding \u201cwe would welcome the opportunity to connect them to available state resources.\u201d With Marcus\u2019s blessing, The Daily Wire shared his number with their office, which confirmed receipt and said it was \u201cmuch appreciated.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat happened to Dalilah is heartbreaking, and we commend her family for turning their grief into advocacy,\u201d Newsom spokesperson Diana Crofts-Pelayo said at the time.<\/p>\n
Still, Marcus says he hasn\u2019t heard anything as of publication.<\/p>\n
President Donald Trump honored Dalilah and Marcus as guests to his State of the Union speech last month to highlight the surge in illegal immigrant trucking crashes.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will take care of this problem,\u201d Trump said during the address. \u201cWe\u2019re going to take care of this problem. We are not playing games. Dalilah \u2014 Dalilah Coleman was only 5 years old in June 2024 when an 18-wheel tractor-trailer plowed into her stopped car, traveling at 60 miles an hour or more. The driver was an illegal alien let in by Joe Biden and given a commercial driver\u2019s license by open borders, politicians, and California. Doctors said Dalilah would never be able to walk or talk, have a good life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cShe wouldn\u2019t even be able to eat again. But against all odds, she is now in the first grade, learning to walk, and she is here this evening with her dad, Marcus, a fantastic man. Dalilah, please, you are a great inspiration. Please stand up. Thank you, Dalilah,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n
The Trump administration is currently withholding roughly $160 million in federal funds from Newsom\u2019s California \u201cfor failing to cancel over 17,000 illegally issued\u201d commercial driver\u2019s licenses \u201cby the agreed-upon deadline of January 5, 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n
Newsom has blamed the federal government for handing illegal immigrants the work permits used to obtain the trucking licenses.<\/p>\n
Republican Indiana Senator Jim Banks recently introduced \u201cThe Dalilah Law\u201d to ensure illegal immigrants lose their commercial driver\u2019s licenses and that the issuance of new licenses has stricter requirements.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
