Jennifer Siebel Newsom, wife of Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) and self-described \u201cFirst Partner of California,\u201d offered a bizarre defense of former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and former Attorney General Pam Bondi.<\/p>\n
Newsom, in a recent video, claimed that the two women \u2014 both recently removed from cabinet-level positions in President Donald Trump\u2019s administration \u2014 were victims of \u201cthe Patriarchy\u201d and proof positive that the war on women was raging ever onward.<\/p>\n
WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cTrust me, I\u2019m not a fan of Pam Bondi nor Kristi Noem,\u201d Newsom began, adding, \u201cBut I need to call out that it\u2019s no surprise to me that the first two prominent people pushed out of this administration were women.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cLet me explain. The conservative women that Trump handpicks, who align themselves with an agenda that controls women, restricting our rights, limiting our autonomy, and pushing us back into the straitjacket of femininity that is only in service of men, that\u2019s a familiar pattern here,\u201d Newsom claimed. \u201cWomen are brought in and packaged Mar-a-Lago-style and lifted up, as long as they commit to whole-heartedly serve the interests of the patriarch at the top.\u201d<\/p>\n Newsom went on to argue that those positions only appeared<\/em> to hold power \u201cor proximity to power\u201d and failed to provide any kind of real authority or security: \u201cThere\u2019s no secure place inside this handpicked patriarchal body that systemically disrespects, devalues, and discriminates against women and girls.\u201d<\/p>\n California\u2019s \u201cfirst partner\u201d pivoted to attack Noem and Bondi \u2014 and other women aligned with the Trump administration \u2014 as \u201ccomplicit\u201d in devaluing other women and warned that they would always be the \u201cfirst to go\u201d when it mattered.<\/p>\n \u201cYour power is only temporary,\u201d she claimed, adding, \u201cAnd ultimately, they will come for you.\u201d<\/p>\n Newsom made no mention of the fact that Trump was responsible for hiring the first woman to manage a winning presidential campaign (Kellyanne Conway), the first working mother to serve as White House Press Secretary (Sarah Huckabee Sanders), and the first woman to serve as White House Chief of Staff (Susie Wiles). She also failed to acknowledge that it was actually a man \u2014 Green Beret veteran Mike Waltz, now serving as U.S. Ambassador to the UN \u2014 who was the first high-ranking official to be ousted from his role as national security adviser.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
