An illegal immigrant fatally shot a 15-year-old boy after roaming the country for more than a decade.<\/p>\n
Honduran national Yefry Archaga-Elvir, 18, was nabbed after a two-week manhunt. The illegal immigrant allegedly duped his victim, 15-year-old Miles Young, into thinking he was going to meet a girl in Springfield, Missouri, on March 12, according<\/a> to Ozarks First.<\/p>\n Archaga-Elvir then allegedly ambushed Young.<\/p>\n Young was supposed to testify in a 2025 homicide, according<\/a> to multiple reports.<\/p>\n Witnesses warned Young against going to meet the girl over bad blood from the earlier case, according<\/a> to KY3. They said the girl \u201cpreviously mentioned a dislike for him\u201d and blamed Young for the victim\u2019s death in the earlier case, according<\/a> to People.<\/p>\n The illegal immigrant crossed the border as a minor in 2015 and was subsequently released by federal authorities, according<\/a> to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).<\/p>\n ICE lodged a detainer, asking local authorities to hand Archaga-Elvir over for deportation, DHS said. It is not yet clear if they will honor it.<\/p>\n \u201cThis animal was released into our country by the Obama administration. ICE lodged an arrest detainer requesting Missouri not release this depraved killer from jail into American neighborhoods,\u201d Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement.<\/p>\n The Honduran national and several other suspects are accused of using their vehicles to block Young\u2019s vehicle before he tried to flee on foot, according to DHS. Witnesses reported that Archaga-Elvir, who was wearing a ski mask and carrying a Glock-style pistol, chased after Young and shot him in the chest, according to KY3.<\/p>\n The young boy then shouted out his last words: \u201cI just don\u2019t want to die,\u201d DHS said.<\/p>\n Archaga-Elvir then allegedly \u201cmade a phone call\u201d and \u201cwas braggadocious\u201d about murdering Young, DHS said, citing a probable cause affidavit.<\/p>\n The illegal immigrant now faces first-degree murder and armed criminal action charges, according to KY3. He is being held without bond, according<\/a> to Fox News.<\/p>\n A second suspect, Praize King, 18, also faces charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with Young\u2019s killing, Fox News reported.<\/p>\n In an earlier statement, the family described Young as \u201ca compassionate, loving, and kind 15-year-old who brought light to everyone around him,\u201d adding, \u201cHe was a big brother, a son, a grandson, and a friend \u2026 full of life and always showed care for others.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNo parent should ever have to outlive and bury their child,\u201d the statement continued.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
