It also has one aggravating control quirk and a proprietary battery setup that keeps this otherwise impressive light from being an easy no-brainer.<\/p>\n<p>The Nitecore NPL35 is a semi-compact, rail-mounted pistol light delivering a maximum output of 2000 lumens with an impressive beam throw. The light features two brightness levels plus a strobe mode, runs on a proprietary 1900 mAh rechargeable battery, and offers over 3 hours of runtime on low. Charging is handled via USB-C, and the unit is built with an ambidextrous control system for easy activation from either side. Instead of relying on a stack of plastic inserts like other brands, Nitecore uses a sliding rail stopper design. This allows you to fine-tune the placement along the pistol\u2019s rail track until you find the perfect fit. It mounts directly to Glock rails out of the box and includes an adapter for Picatinny rails. The light turns on instantly when the toggle is pressed, but I noticed it takes nearly a full second to shut off after hitting the switch. That delay is frustrating, and I wish both on and off activation were immediate. In my testing, the throw was impressive. I had no trouble engaging steel targets beyond 100 yards with clear visibility. It slides out for charging via USB-C, which means you don\u2019t have to remove the entire unit from your pistol. Runtime is solid, with up to 1 hour 45 minutes on high and over 3 hours on low. The downside is that replacement batteries are hard to find. If one goes bad, you\u2019re stuck without a common off-the-shelf alternative like CR123s. The light stayed powered the entire time. When I took it apart, some water had gotten into the USB-C charging port on the battery.
