Former first lady Jill Biden was fully prepared to shell out $35,000 for a chance to appear in an upcoming season of HBO\u2019s gay hockey drama, \u201cHeated Rivalry.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Sadly for her, Biden was outbid during the NYC LGBT Community Center\u2019s dinner charity auction on Thursday night, with the offer selling twice to two bidders at $125,000 each, as Variety <\/span>reported<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cGuess I won\u2019t be heading to the cottage after all \u2014 but it was worth a shot! It\u2019s been criticized for featuring graphic sexual content, but despite this, has been especially popular with heterosexual women.<\/span><\/p>\n Interestingly, the series has been criticized by the gay community as well. <\/span>A review published on\u00a0Slate<\/a> went so far as to say the sex was depicted in a \u201cdeeply conservative way.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAccording to the logic of its plot thus far, sex between men does not make the characters gay (or even bisexual, for that matter),\u201d the review claims. \u201cBy their own admission, they do not see themselves that way. Gayness begins only when desire leaves the bedroom and enters the social world\u2014when it is confessed, claimed, and explained.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
