Just last summer, <a href=\"https:\/\/observer.com\/2024\/08\/look-inside-sothebys-new-hong-kong-maison\/\">Sotheby&#8217;s opened its highly anticipated luxury venue in Central<\/a>, with its boutique-like, cross-category experience designed to attract the young wealth in the region. <span style=\"margin: 0px;padding: 0px\">Shortly thereafter, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/observer.com\/company\/christies-auction-house\/\" title=\"Christie's\" class=\"company-link\">Christie&#8217;s<\/a> established a\u00a0lavish location at the Zaha Hadid-designed The Henderson, and <a href=\"https:\/\/observer.com\/company\/bonhams\/\" title=\"Bonhams\" class=\"company-link\">Bonhams<\/a> launched its flagship location at Six Pacific Place in Hong Kong. All these developments follow <a href=\"https:\/\/observer.com\/company\/phillips\/\" title=\"Phillips\" class=\"company-link\">Phillips<\/a>&#8216; decision in 2023 to make Hong Kong its headquarters in the region, with a location in the<a href=\"https:\/\/observer.com\/2024\/07\/observer-arts-m-museum-hong-kong-creative-freedom\/\"> fast-evolving Kowloon Cultural District<\/a> that&#8217;s just steps away from the M+ Museum.<\/p>\n<p>Despite post-pandemic speculations about Hong Kong potentially losing its prominent place in the art world due to the growing influence of the Chinese government and the departure of expats, the quality of the Art Week exhibitions at both galleries and museums reaffirms the city\u2019s status as the primary international cultural hub for the region.
