Michigan Senate Democratic candidate Mallory McMorrow said on Sunday that deleting thousands of tweets trashing rural America reflects her authenticity rather than an effort to hide her past.<\/span><\/p>\n A CNN report<\/a> this week found that the Senate hopeful had deleted about 6,000 tweets \u2014 including posts mocking Middle America and bending the truth about where she was living, working, and voting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In a recent autobiography, McMorrow said she moved to Michigan in 2014, but on social media, she described herself as a California resident in 2016 and voted in California\u2019s June 2016 primary, according to CNN.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>Reporter Manu Raju pressed McMorrow on the contradictions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>\u201cAnd I don\u2019t need to tell you, but of course, you\u2019re required to vote in the state where you\u2019re a resident. So why were you voting in California two years after moving to Michigan?\u201d Raju asked.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>\u201cLike a lot of millennials, moving takes time,\u201d McMorrow said, describing a \u201ctwo-year process\u201d before settling in Michigan from Southern California. \u201cI registered to vote in Michigan in August of 2016 and voted in the general election in November that year.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>McMorrow dodged when asked whether she should have voted in California while claiming to live in Michigan.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe still had our place out in Southern California, and as I mentioned, we had multiple jobs. Moving is ugly. They live in very unrepresentative areas.\u201d McMorrow said the thread \u201crings 100%.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n McMorrow, who currently serves in the Michigan State Senate, framed her comments as evidence of her authenticity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>\u201cWas it the most eloquent tweet I\u2019ve ever tweeted?
