If that sounds like somebody on the Left, you would be correct. But that is also a lot of people on what we have termed the Horseshoe Right and what we are now going to call the New Left, because these people have nothing in common with traditional conservatism, and they have nearly everything in common with their new friends on the Left.<\/p>\n
Their Venn diagram with the Left is a circle, and this New Left is working with the old Left in order to destroy the Republican Party and, in turn, the country.<\/p>\n
Let\u2019s set the stage here. If you love America, what you love about America are probably the things that make America, America: Individual freedom, private property, traditional institutions, churches, and the Constitution of the United States.<\/p>\n
In the end, what you love about America is that anyone can succeed in America because you need all of those things to be successful. Anyone can in America \u2014 if they make good and responsible decisions \u2014 rise.<\/p>\n
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the son of Cuban immigrants, whose parents came to the U.S. in 1956 to seek opportunity and avoid living under the communist hellscape, described cogently why America is great:<\/p>\n
\nMy hope for America is what it\u2019s always been. I think it\u2019s the hope I hope we all share. We want it to continue to be the place where anyone from anywhere can achieve anything, where you\u2019re not limited by the circumstances of your birth, by the color of your skin, by your ethnicity, but frankly, it\u2019s a place where you are able to overcome challenges and achieve your full potential. I think that should be the goal of every country in the world, frankly. But I think in the U.S., we\u2019re not perfect. Our history is not one of perfection, but it\u2019s still better than anybody else\u2019s history. And ours is a story of perpetual improvement. <\/i><\/p>\n
Each generation has left the next generation of Americans freer, more prosperous, safer. And that is our goal as well. But it is a unique and exceptional country. And as we come upon this 250-year anniversary, I think we have a lot to learn and be proud of in our history. It is one of perpetual and continuous improvement, where each generation has done its part to bring us closer to fulfilling the vision that the Founders of this country had upon its founding.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
That\u2019s a pretty damn good working definition of American exceptionalism, because it turns out America is<\/i> exceptional. We have a different system of government here. We have values that are unlike those of any other place on Earth. America is indeed exceptional.<\/p>\n
But there are a lot of people who actually hate America, whether at home or abroad, and believe that America must be fundamentally changed, replaced, or fought. America\u2019s enemies, people like Vladimir Putin\u2019s brain, Alexander Dugin, agree.<\/p>\n
Dugin, the philosopher of Putinism and beloved by many members of the New Left, went on a bit of a tweet bender recently over on X, writing, \u201cLook, is there at least one argument why the US shouldn\u2019t be erased from the face of the earth? Dems = globalists, are utmost perverts. (Epstein) GOP = idiots. (Epstein) Trump and Zionists of all kinds = maniacs, pedophiles. (Epstein) Is there some other argument? If not, you are doomed.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also suggested that Americans are stupid slaves, writing, \u201cYou are not the people. You are stupid slaves on the Epstein\u2019s menu of cruel cannibal elites. You are eaten, your brains are. It is why you watch Euphoria. Because all of you are perverts. Disgusting civilization. No reason to exist. Please, die.\u201d<\/p>\n
People like Alexander Dugin have domestic allies in the United States. Lots of them. Many of those folks are on the traditional Left; people who are happy to mirror and parrot the propaganda of China or Russia or Iran, people who range from Noam Chomsky in the old school to Hassan Piker.<\/p>\n
But they have a brand-new set of allies as well. People who masquerade as conservatives but actually agree with the fundamental principles of the Left. That is why we\u2019re calling them the New Left.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve warned about the Horseshoe Right, the Woke Right, and the Grievance Party for a long time. Back in December, I gave a speech at the Heritage Foundation talking about how conservatism requires ideological borders.<\/p>\n
I stated, \u201cThe conservative movement also requires a border. A conservative movement without a border is no conservative movement. We are a welcoming movement. But those who seek to undermine the character of conservatism must never be granted legitimacy as voices of our movement. Conservatism requires ideological border control. American conservatism is a term with a definition. We use terms because they have meaning. Definitions by nature delimit. They distinguish. And the term American conservatism has a meaning.\u201d<\/p>\n
I continued, \u201cThe principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense. Those who oppose those principles definitionally oppose American conservatism. That is just definitional. Such people are not ideological allies. They\u2019re not part of the rich debate that is constantly ongoing between various strands of conservatism. They are opponents, and they ought to be treated that way. Which brings us to Tucker Carlson, who has become, by any honest assessment, an opponent of conservatism, an outsider masquerading as an insider and destroying the character of the conservative movement in the process.\u201d<\/p>\n
Many people have suggested over the past couple of years that when I critique the New Left, I\u2019m wrong, and people like Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and Nick Fuentes are actually on the Right, and that we have to somehow unify with them because we need \u201cunity.\u201d<\/p>\n
This was, at best, wishful thinking. It was, as Winston Churchill \u2014 a man that Tucker Carlson thinks was the actual villain of World War Two \u2014 feeding the crocodile, hoping it would eat you last.<\/p>\n
These folks have always been willing to unify on their <\/i>terms. You want them to back Republicans? Then Republicans would have to embrace a form of anti-Americanism that differs from open leftism only in its view of who the victimized class is here in America.<\/p>\n
They will slather some rhetoric about Christianity on top of their leftism, and then hope that you will not notice that sleight of hand.<\/p>\n
They\u2019re not on the Right. They\u2019re on the New Left. And if they don\u2019t get what they want, then they just go home, or they unify with the Left, their natural allies.<\/p>\n
The people who actually support the downfall of the GOP and President Trump blame conservatism and then try to grab the remnants of the GOP and forge them into some sort of New Left coalition.<\/p>\n
They are not part of the Right.<\/p>\n
And we should shut the gates behind them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
