President Donald Trump said Tuesday he will attend a rescheduled White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner after a gunman opened fire in a suspected assassination attempt at the Washington Hilton in April.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Trump drew widespread attention ahead of the April event, which was set to be his first White House Correspondents’ Dinner as a sitting president, where he was expected to deliver fiery remarks and hurl insults at reporters.<\/span><\/p>\n Before he even reached the podium, gunshots rang out at a security checkpoint one floor above the ballroom, forcing the U.S. Secret Service to evacuate Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and members of the Cabinet from the ballroom. He confirmed the news on Truth Social.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIn a sign of Strength and Fortitude, it was just announced that The White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner, which violently ended rather abruptly on April 25th, will be rescheduled to July 24th.
