questioned in Iraq after officials in that country accused him of playing a role in inciting the deadly New Year&#8217;s Day <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/new-orleans-vehicle-crash-bourbon-street-crowd-casualties-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">terror attack in New Orleans<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, U.S. officials say they have not established a direct link between the suspect in Iraq and 42-year-old <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/bourbon-street-new-orleans-attack-suspect-what-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">Shamsud-Din Jabbar<\/a><\/span>, the U.S. citizen from Texas who drove his truck through a crowd of revelers for several blocks on Bourbon Street, <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/new-orleans-deadly-attack-new-years-victims\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">killing 14 people<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Din Jabbar flew the black and white ISIS flag on the back of the truck when he carried out the attack, but ISIS never officially took responsibility for the attack.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. officials told CBS News the FBI&#8217;s investigation into the attack is ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While we continue to work with our law enforcement partners, both in the U.S. and internationally, based on the information to date, we continue to believe that Shamsud Din-Jabbar acted alone in carrying out the attack on Bourbon Street,&#8221; the FBI said Tuesday in a statement released to CBS News.<\/p>\n<p>Iraqi authorities issued a statement on April 27 saying that the National Center for International Judicial Cooperation had received a request from the U.S. to assist in its investigation of the New Orleans terror attack. The statement said the suspect was found to be a member of the ISIS foreign operations office.<\/p>\n<p>Din Jabbar rented a white Ford pickup truck in Houston and drove to New Orleans to carry out the attack, U.S. authorities said.
